Group Therapy Café at Katong

A quaint little café in Katong V that serves some awesome coffee and light meals.

Ambience, Service and the Staff

The shop front subtly stands out from the rest of the storefronts in this mall. There is a sense of hipster chic. Group Therapy Café at Katong V is a hipster capsule inside the glass and concrete of Katong V. The interior is fully air-conditioned and decorated to feel like a café that one would find in the laneways of Melbourne.

Our party of 2 arrived there right before doing some grocery shopping. It wasn’t busy at the time, and we were seated straight away by some very friendly staff.

The menu offers a standard selection of café favourites. Seating is either at standard café tables and chairs, or at a smaller selection of upholstered seats. Behind the glass walls in the ambience of the café, one can easily forget that they’re in a shopping centre.

The Food

We ordered some coffee, breaded fish and chips, and the shepherd’s pie.

Fish and chips is something that is very hard to find well done in Singapore. Breaded fish and chips is even rarer. Group Therapy do a very good job on their preparation.

The shepherd’s pie takes about 15 minutes to come out, has a buttery crust and a wholesome meat filling that is thoroughly satisfying.

The coffee is very well made and served quickly.

The Price Point

For our two items and two coffees, we spent just under $50.

This is quite a standard price for a meal at a café. Overall, their menu is competitively priced.
