Hub and Spoke is off the beaten track – literally. It is at Changi airport and serves as a cafe for cyclists and pedestrians to start or punctuate their journey to the Changi Jurassic Mile along the park connector.
Ambience, Service and the Staff
Hub and Spoke, as the name suggests, is a casual cyclists’ café. It’s conveniently located about 2km from the model dinosaurs that are on display on the Changi Park Connector. The café is spotlessly clean and offers lots of alfresco dining space. There is also a paid shower area in case you’d like to clean up after a bike ride. Bikes can also be rented here in case you don’t own one but want to visit the Jurassic Mile.
There are no reservations here – it’s a walk-in cafe that offers local breakfast, western breakfast, and local classics with an assortment of drinks. The staff are generally behind the counter and will accept your orders at the counter. The menus are are provided as QR codes on the tables. Upon ordering, you’re issued with a food collection buzzer to alert you to come and pick up your food.
The Food
We were a party of 2, had just finished a 14km bike ride to the café and were fairly hungry. We ordered the Kaya Toast and Butter set, the Scrambled Eggs on Toast with a sausage on the side, an iced coffee and and hot tea.
Drinks were served immediately from the counter to the right of the point of sale. Our food was ready within 5 minutes. Portions were ample, and the food was of decent quality. The drinks were particularly comforting after the ride.
The Price Point
Our bill came up to just under $20 for 2 people. This is a bargain meal and perfect to start or punctuate a bike ride..
The Final Verdict
Spoke and Hub is a very well maintained bicycle cafe. It is the place that you would either start, end, or punctuate your visit to the Changi Jurassic Mile. It’s a café that will appeal to cyclists and young families who need to tend to their children after a visit to one of Singapore’s tourist attractions.
