Monti

If you are looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special location, Monti is a destination that you definitely need to consider. The restaurant is situated at the Fullerton Pavilion at the edge of Marina Bay. It is a floating restaurant that offers sweeping views of Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer.

Ambience, Service and the Staff

Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted and led to my table.

At the time, the restaurant was yet to fill up. The table that they offered me was on the lower deck, away from the window. I requested a table at the elevated deck which the staff obliged.

The staff were professional and efficient. They offered me a drink, and brought out the menu straight away.

Once we were seated, they brought out some bread and got us our drinks.

Food came out very quickly, with one course promptly following the next. We were well looked after during our visit.

This is a fine dining restaurant that has a dress code. It’s smart casual at a minimum – which means no sandals, flip flops, or shorts. You’d be appropriately attired if you were wearing a polo shirt with slacks, and shoes, or a dress with opened toed shoes.

Reservations are essential. I made my reservation via Chope and the restaurant called me the day before to confirm my reservation.

The restaurant has an outdoor rooftop deck that overlooks the bay and has the vibe of a cool bar.

The Food

We ordered scallops as a starter to share, the lamb and the iberico pork as our mains, and the Bomba as our dessert. Our drinks were a Coke Light and a Hendricks Gin and Tonic.

Simply put, the food was amazing. The scallops were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The lamb was tender, well cooked without overdone. The pork was juicy, and complemented with a full flavoured Marsala jus. However, the best part of the meal was dessert – the chef’s signature Bomba – a hazelnut praline mousse served with a warm berry compote that just hit the spot.

The Price Point

Being a fine dining establishment, Monti is expensive, and is a great place to celebrate special occasions and organise romantic dinners. The meal for 2 cost just over $200. For the experience and the quality of food, this was totally worth it.

The Final Verdict

Rating: 5 out of 5.

We were looking for a memorable experience, and Monti delivered. I would have no hesitation going back for a special occasion. This was a dinner visit, and I am keen to go back for lunch for a daytime experience.
