Sawadee Thai is a lovely little Thai restaurant just off Bugis Junction.
The Ambience, Service and Staff
I’ve been here several times before, and recently returned after Singapore lifted restrictions on dining out after a brief set of restrictions due to Covid-19. We were a party of two and had made a reservation through Chope. The friendly staff greeted us on our arrival and ushered us to our table as we arrived. Menus were available via a QR code.
The restaurant is tastefully decorated and well lit. With social distancing measures in place, we had a nice little table with plenty of privacy. The staff were courteous, attentive, and very helpful.
We ordered the Olive Fried Rice, Green Curry with Chicken, the Thai Otah and the Mixed Vegetables for our mains, and shared a mango sticky rice for our dessert.
Their preparation is quick. Our food came out within 10 minutes. The portions are very generous. The Olive Fried Rice is served with a selection of ingredients around a central platter with the intent for diners to mix it all together before serving. The Thai Otah was particularly pleasing – hot, juicy and tender without being overcooked. The green curry was well balanced and not particularly spicy, and the mixed vegetables offered a nice balance to the meal.
The Mango Sticky Rice was the high point of the meal. They had a lovely selection of very sweet mango served alongside the sticky rice, topped with crispy mung beans, and accompanied with cold coconut milk.
The Price Point
My meal for one set me back by just under $80. For a restaurant of this caliber and the quality of food, this is a reasonable price point. We used a Chope voucher that brought the price down a little.
The Final Verdict
Sawadee Thai is one of Singapore’s better Thai Restaurants. It is classy without being over the top, serves great tasting food, offers excellent service, and is great value. This is a great place to meet up with friends, got on a date, and celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. I’ll continue to visit here and highly recommend it!
