The Marmalade Pantry

This morning took me back to the Marmalade Pantry at Ion. It’s been a while since I have visited here. The last time I was here, I had come with a group of friends. Today, we were a party of two.

Ambience, Service and the Staff

The restaurant accepts bookings through Chope. Today, we walked in – we happened to be their first customers and got to the door just as they opened. We were seated very quickly. The restaurant has most of their seating in the atrium of Ion on Level 4. The have a warm, modern decor that is well lit with very comfortable seats. The staff are a thoroughly professional, friendly unit.

Their menus can be accessed online via a QR code.

The Food

As a party of 2 who stopped here for what turned out to be lunch, we only ordered 2 items today – the brick pressed chicken, and the salmon with grilled vegetables.

Our order was quickly taken and food came out very quickly. The brick pressed chicken is very well made, served with roasted celeriac and roasted potatoes, and gravy on the side. It is well seasoned, and cooked to be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

The salmon was well presented, and the vegetables perfectly cooked. We felt that the fish was a tad overdone and a bit on the salty side.

In the past, I’ve ordered the curry barramundi which is absolutely amazing! The Mexican chicken offers a salad with a bit of zing to it which is interesting. The truffle field mushroom risotto is a wholesome, comforting dish.

The portions here are generous.

I have also tried their marmalade carrot cake which is particularly good!

The Price Point

Marmalade Pantry is slightly more expensive than a regular place. Today, for food alone, we spent just under $70 which is a tad expensive. However, you are dining at one of Singapore’s Premium Malls.

The Final Verdict

Rating: 4 out of 5.

If you’re looking for a place for a first date, a place to celebrate special occasions with friends and family, or to meet up with friends at a nice but casual place, the Marmalade Pantry fits the bill. You’ll be well looked after, and the food is good.
