An unpretentious little café in the back of Marina One that is a great place for a quick lunch.
Ambience, Service and the Staff
Waa Cow has some really good lunch specials if you’re hungry and are short on time.
The restaurant serves Japanese style beef and rice dishes. There are several branches around town. This particular branch is at the rear of the ground floor of Marina One in the heart of the CBD.
I had made reservations for this place over Chope and was seated immediately upon entering.
The decor of the restaurant is minimalist with no frills, and a slight edge to it with the neon sign and the exposed ceiling. The staff are polite and friendly. There is a sense of being in a Japanese café with the motifs and generally minimalist decor. We were there on a day when it wasn’t too busy.
There is a generous alfresco dining area outside.
The Food
We were a party of 2 and ordered the Wagyu beef rice bowl and the Wagyu Sukiyaki beef set.
The portions were ample and the mains were serves with a bottomless side of cabbage. The set meal also came with a cup of green tea. The meats were beautifully cooked to tenderness. The Wagyu Beef was particularly tasty with slightly charred edges adding a smoky undertone, offset by the mentaiko.
The Price Point
The two items came in at just under $35 which is very reasonable for this part of town for lunch. It definitely offers good value.
The Final Verdict
If you’re in the Downtown area and looking for a quick, filling meal, a quiet place to reset, and something that’s healthy, Waa Cow offers a great place that will tick all these boxes. Stop here to grab lunch with a colleague or friend, or just to have lunch on your own while spending some quiet time.
