Crossroads

Crossroads is an amazing place to people watch on Orchard Road while getting a great alfresco meal.

The Ambience, Service and Staff

Crossroads is part of the Marriot on Orchard Road right next to Tangs. On the day, we were a party of two and walked in without reservations. It was about 4pm in the afternoon, and the café wasn’t particularly busy.

We were seated at a table by the friendly staff and provided me with menus.

Crossroads is an alfresco experience. The outdoor café is segregated from the street traffic by a low barrier, and has fans that help circulate the air. We chose a table closer to the interior that let us take in the view.

The Food

We ordered some tea and an aperol for our drinks. For our meal, we got the Nasi Goreng and the Hokkien Mee.

Our drinks came out first in about 5 minutes. The staff kept our glasses of cold water filled throughout our meal without needing to be prompted. The aperol was particularly good.

Mains followed 5 minutes later.

The portion sizes are very generous. I had requested the Nasi Goreng to be made without any seafood, which the chef kindly accommodated. The chicken satay was well cooked and full of flavour. The dish came with a chicken drumstick that was fried till crispy but was still tender and juicy on the inside. It was accompanied by two very large prawn crackers.

The Hokkien Mee came with a generous serving of pork belly, prawns and squid. It was cooked to perfection and presented well.

The Price Point

Our meal for two came up to around $80. We had a 1-for-1 deal on the mains through AIA which brought this amount down to around $50 including the drinks. This is a really good deal, and even at full price, you would feel that you had gotten good value for your money.

The Final Verdict

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Crossroads offers a lovely alfresco experience. It is casual dining at its best on Orchard Road. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service and the food was excellent. This is a great place for a first date, to meet up with friends and colleagues, or to grab a meal in the middle of some retail therapy. I’d definitely recommend them and will be coming back.
