I Want My Noodles

If you’re in the Orchard Road area and are looking for an unpretentious noodle bar that offers great food, head up to the second floor of the Shaw Center to this place that will offer you some straight up, no nonsense, wholesome noodles!

Ambience, Service and the Staff

On the day that we visited, we walked in without a reservation. It was a full house and we had to wait about 10 minutes before a table was available. The staff were very efficient in clearing a table and getting us seated and taking our order. The restaurant has the feel of a traditional noodle bar with modern conveniences. The decor adds to its rustic charm.

The Food

We ordered the Mushroom Noodles, the Bar Chor Mee, and Bok Choy with Oyster Sauce. We got the sago pudding on the house.

The noodles were surprisingly good. The Bar Chor Mee pork noodles were spicy without being overwhelming. The mushroom noodles were well cooked, wholesome and flavoursome. They were both served with a bowl of radish soup. The bok-choy was served hot and fresh, with a garnish of fried shallots that offered a bit of zing and complemented the noodles beautifully. The sago pudding was a sweet ending that was not overwhelmingly sweet and a pleasant way to end the meal.

Food came out quickly, within 10 minutes of us placing our order.

The Price Point

They offer excellent value for money. Two main noodle dishes, and a dish of vegetables (that was a very generous portion), with 2 glasses of water amounted to under $25, which in this part of town is a bargain!

The Final Verdict

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I Want My Noodle is unpretentious. The food is served hot and fresh, and has a wholesome and welcoming flavour to it. It offers you an authentic local taste with the atmosphere of a traditional noodle bar – all with the comforts of modern amenities and air-conditioning. Stop here for a quick bite, or catch up with friends over a casual meal!
