Skai Restaurant

Skai bar and Restaurant is on the 70th floor of Raffles City, and offers some of the most amazing views of Singapore.

Ambience, Service and the Staff

We were celebrating and had made reservations through Chope. We were running late, and the restaurant called us to check on where we were. When we told them that we were having trouble finding the entrance, they helped guide us.

Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted, and seated at our table. Throughout our meal, they were attentive and courteous.

Skai offers floor to ceiling windows that are about 6 metres high, with lots of natural light and sweeping south-east facing views that look down on the Padang, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, Raffles Place, the CBD and Marina Bay Sands. There’s plenty of light without the hot afternoon sun.

The Food

The contemporary Western fare is of amazing quality. We went for a 3-course set lunch. We chose the Foie Gras and the Serrano Ham as our starters, the Pork Belly and the Salmon as our mains, and the chocolate tart for our dessert. We only drank water which they charge $3 for a bottle that has bottomless refills.

They brought out complimentary sourdough bread rolls with mushroom butter for a start. The rolls were freshly baked, and beautifully complemented by the mushroom butter. I recommend applying the butter liberally. It is really good.

Food followed soon after. The Serrano ham was served with rocket leaves, whiskey soaked melon, and walnuts, offering a sweet firm texture offsetting the salty Serrano ham. The Foie Gras is served with mango, peanut satay, and spiced popcorn, and has a smooth texture. We leisurely went about eating our starters, taking in the view.

Mains followed. The salmon was cooked to perfection – slightly crisp on the outside, and served with kale and Maitake Fregola (a semolina rolled pasta). The pork belly is cooked beautifully, remaining tender, and served with a sweet carrot slaw, and a spicy tomato relish.

The dessert was the highpoint. The chocolate tart is served with ice cream. It has a warm, molten center, wrapped in a crusty loop, and served with a strawberry puree that complements the rich chocolate interior.

The Price Point

For two people, our bill came to just over $130. This is an amazing fine dining experience.

The Final Verdict

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Skai is amazing. It is perfect to celebrate special occasions, and share a romantic meal with your significant other. I was already planning my next visit after being seated there for 15 minutes, and the next time, I plan to come here in the evenings. I definitely recommend them.
