So France

So France in the Duo Galleria is a stone’s throw away from Bugis and is a little French restaurant that is attached to a French supermarket.

The Ambience, Service and Staff

We were a party of three and made a reservation through Chope. I walked in through the supermarket and café. The staff directed me to the restaurant area where they had a table ready for us in the outdoor terrace area. They also have an air-conditioned area, but on the day, the outdoors was a lot more appealing with some amazing weather in an area that is shaded and ventilated. The colours of the decor deliver a French feel to the environment.

While I was waiting for my fellow diners, the staff provided me with menus. Throughout our stay, they were courteous, friendly and attentive.

The Food

Our party of three ordered a latte, a hot chocolate, and a San Pellegrino sparkling mineral water for our drinks, followed by the So France Burger, the Chicken Schnitzel Salad and the Ultimate Breakfast as our mains.

Our coffees came out first after about 10 minutes and were well presented. The staff also brought out some freshly baked bread with butter to whet our appetites. Food followed shortly after.

The portions are generous and well presented. The Chicken Schnitzel salad is an ample sized portion for an adult and comes with fresh salads and tartare sauce. The So France burger is a decent size without being overwhelming, served on a freshly baked sourdough bun, a mild raclette cheese, and confit onions. The Ultimate Breakfast lived up to its name in size and quality, served with spinach, mushrooms and bacon. The quality of the scrambled eggs summed up this breakfast – cooked to perfection, but still moist.

The Price Point

Our meal for three came up to around $115. We felt that for amount served, this was a fair price for an establishment of this calibre in this part of town.

The Final Verdict

Rating: 4 out of 5.

So France offers a quaint little French experience in Singapore, has great service, and an amazing outdoor dining area which is particularly nice, especially on overcast days when there’s a gentle breeze, and where you’ll remain sheltered. It’s a great place to meet up with friends and family for a weekend breakfast, brunch or lunch. Go try them out!
