Twenty Eight Café is nestled away in a predominantly residential area of Wilkie Road, just off Selegie Road.
This is a groovy little café that is housed in a solid brick and mortar building, and serves breakfast and lunch all day.
Ambience, Service and the Staff
This café has lots of natural light and a modern feel to it. The whitewashed walls, exposed ceilings, and minimalist steel and wooden furniture lend an elegant, industrial feel to it.
Most of the tables against the walls have power outlets which make it ideal to an extended session on your electronic device.
I’ve generally always walked in, and never struggled to find a seat in this very popular café.
The staff have always seated me quickly, and are warm and friendly.
Orders are placed at the counter and their food comes out quickly.
The Food
They have a decent selection of food – both sweet and savoury. I generally tend to get the big breakfast. Some of my friends have ordered the spam fries and swear by them.
Their pancakes are fluffy and well balanced with a selection of fruit and ice-cream.
They also have excellent coffee, and I tend to get more than one serving when I visit here.
The Price Point
Twenty Eight Café is very reasonably priced. For the quality of food and the ambience of the restaurant, you wouldn’t complain when brunch for 2 with coffees runs around $50.
The Final Verdict
When I’m looking for a good café with a good selection of food, great ambience, and a reasonable price point, this is one of my go-to places.
I have never been disappointed here, and would recommend this café to anyone looking to enjoy a weekend brunch, organise a business meeting, or have a first date.
