There are two things that drew me to this coffee shop in Wisma Atria – the fact that it is part of a music store called “The CD Shop”, and the artwork that was straight out of the Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”.
Ambience, Service and the Staff
The café has very little natural light and is artificially lit. However, it has a striking decor that will appeal to every Tim Burton fan. The art deco furniture and decoration of the walls is complemented by artwork from the Tim Burton classic.
The seats and tables are nicely upholstered and provide welcome respite for weary feet after a bout of shopping on Orchard Road.
This is a thoroughly professional outfit. Upon entering, staff quickly seated us at a table after understanding that we were only looking to get a drink before continuing our shopping trip.
The Food
Wonderland Savour is primarily a coffee shop. Their menu does offer a few things to eat. A close inspection of their cake display will clearly indicate that they focus on small bits and beverages between shopping trips.
Their selection of cakes and macarons is impressive.
Their coffee is decent and their refreshing cold beverages are well made and generous. The staff will take requests to reduce the amount of sugar in your drinks.
The Price Point
This café is reasonably priced. We had ordered a cup of coffee, a cold beverage and a macaron, and spent around $20. This is quite reasonable for a coffee shop of this standard on Orchard Road.
The Final Verdict
Wonderland Savour is a novelty café. Orchard Road does offer plenty of cafés that offer better tasting coffee and a wider selection of cakes, but they won’t offer you the ambience or the decor of Wonderland Savour. Definitely worth a visit!
