Yayoi at Millenia Walk

Permanently Closed

This establishment is no longer in operation.

Yayoi is a chain of Japanese Teishoku restaurants all around Singapore. The term “teishoku” refers to “a good balance of steamed rice (Japanese’s staple food), miso soup, main dish, side dish and other items on a tray.”

They have several outlets. This one at Millenia Walk is one that I have visited several times, and that I have always had good luck with.

Ambience, Service and the Staff

Located on the ground floor of Millenia Walk, this restaurant has a modern decor that is chic modern Japanese. The tables are outfitted with electronic menus which make it really easy to order food.

Yayoi has a loyalty program via an app, where one accumulates points based on the dollar value of your order, which can later be redeemed for items from the menu.

I have always walked in here, and have never made reservations in advanced. Evenings generally find the restaurant to be moderately busy. I have always been seated immediately. The staff are professional, courteous and attentive.

The Food

The menu at Yayoi is fairly elaborate. They are known for their teishoku offerings, though one can order items a-la-carte.

On one of my more recent visits, we were a party of 2. We ordered the Wafu Hamburg Teishoku, Shogayaki (sliced pork in ginger sauce), and a side of Gyoza (fried dumplings).

Yayoi is very efficient in their preparation and service. Our food came out together in under 10 minutes. It was hot and tasted amazing, as it always does.

We had ordered water for drinks. Our glasses were kept full throughout the meal.

The Price Point

We spent approximately just over $50 for two people – a standard amount for the location, ambience of restaurant, and the quality of food.

The Final Verdict

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Yayoi has a consistent quality of food and service, is conveniently located, and is priced very reasonably. This is a great place to get a meal to either take a break from or end a shopping trip in the area. The restaurant is great for couples, families, or getting together with friends. I regularly frequent this restaurant, and will continue to do so.
